MEET THE TEAM BEHIND SLA

committed to building leaders on and off the field.
we are soccer leadership academy!

We’re not just the camp founders or professionals. We’re parents, a former professional player, coaches and educators. We know the game of soccer intimately - from the personal level, the coach level, and the parent level.

Which is exactly what led us to forming Soccer Leadership Academy - so your young athlete can grow both athletically and personally from the beautiful game of soccer.

SLA Mission

We aim to inspire confidence, build character, and encourage a lifelong love for the game, preparing our players for success both on and off the field.

MEET THE TEAM BEHIND SLA

As all good things do, our paths crossed organically (Cyndi knew of Brinton from the community, Brinton knew of Trevor from soccer, naturally, and Cyndi enlisted Brinton + Trevor for private lessons for her son) and our idea started small - one quick mention here, a text there, and finally, the realization that this idea to create a much needed and different type of soccer camp wouldn’t leave any of our minds for a reason. The rest, as they say, is history.

  • Born in Plymouth, England, Brinton grew up playing soccer for Plymouth Argyle F.C. He committed to the youth academy as a nine-year-old and upon leaving school signed a two-year full-time contract with the club.

Brinton was selected to play for the England U16 National Team which included players such as James Milner & Aaron Lennon, who went on to play at the 2006 & 2010 FIFA World Cup.

At twenty-two years old, he was offered a full scholarship to play at Savannah College of Art & Design where he captained the team for three years. He was also invited to travel and play in Argentina against River Plate’s reserve team.

Brinton received multiple accolades at SCAD including Athlete of the Year, First Team All-Conference (The Sun Conference), and All-American Honors.

Upon graduation Brinton spent two and a half years in college recruitment, visiting and recruiting from schools in England, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, South Africa, China, Hong Kong, Czech Republic, Cyprus, France, Finland & Canada.

He spent the next six years as the Head Coach at Wimberley High School, receiving the Coach of the Year award from the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches in 2022, finishing with a 116-31-12 record.

He’s lived and coached in Wimberley for the past eight years, where, alongside his wife, he can be found constantly chasing around his six year old twins and toddler.

She dedicated her career to empowering others through education and support. With over 20 years of experience in special education both in public schools and private settings she developed a passion for fostering resilience and character in her students, educators, and families of children with unique learning needs

Her work as an Education Specialist at the Education Service Center, Region 13 allowed her to train educators statewide, emphasizing leadership, collaboration, and effective communication—skills that align with the values of teamwork and sportsmanship in soccer.

As an assistant professor in Applied Behavior Analysis, she continues to inspire the next generation of educators. Through Soccer Leadership Academy, Cyndi combines her expertise in education and behavior management to empower young athletes, instilling confidence and a lifelong love for the game.

  • Trevor Blass is a co-founder of Soccer Leadership Academy, where he works alongside his two like-minded partners to develop young soccer players through a holistic approach to the game.

Soccer has been Trevor’s lifelong passion, beginning in his hometown of Wimberley. Some of his earliest and most cherished memories involve playing club soccer and kicking the ball around with his family in the front yard. While he enjoyed other sports, including football (American), basketball, and track, soccer remained his true focus.

As a high school student, Trevor dedicated his weekends to playing, watching, and coaching soccer at camps and clinics. This is where he discovered his love for coaching and mentoring young players. After high school, he attended Texas Tech University, where he joined the club soccer team and played alongside talented teammates, forging lifelong friendships in the process.

Upon graduating in 2019, Trevor balanced a career in the IT industry with private soccer lessons in the evenings and weekends, working closely with co-founder Brinton. His ultimate goal was always to transition into a full-time coaching career, and that vision has now come to fruition through Soccer Leadership Academy.

Trevor is excited about the opportunity to work with players, families, and coaches to help foster not only technical skills but also the mental and emotional resilience needed to thrive on and off the field. He is deeply committed to empowering young athletes and shaping future leaders through the sport of soccer.
