FAQ
-
What is Soccer Leadership Academy?
Soccer Leadership Academy (SLA) is a five day soccer camp focusing on soccer intelligence, competitive play, leadership, mental health development, nutrition, and physical resilience.
-
Who can attend the camp?
Our camp is open to players aged 8 to 13 years, who have previous soccer experience and are committed to improving their soccer skills.
-
What is the schedule?
The camp runs from 8:30 to 3:30 (pick up between 3:30 and 3:45); Monday through Friday. We have an option to stay and play until 5:00 pm. Campers will rotate between field sessions (skills and scrimmages) and classroom sessions. There will be a warm up and cool down before and after each field session.
-
What is included in classroom sessions?
SLA has partnered with licensed and certified professionals to develop a research-based curriculum for the camp. These professionals include a sports psychologist, nutritionist, and physical therapist. Classroom sessions include topics centered around mental skills (e.g. growth mindset, confidence, teamwork and collaboration, focus and attention, and emotional regulation) with added components of injury prevention, recovery, and nutrition. Campers will also have the opportunity to review game footage, with a comprehensive overview and analysis, allowing them to gain a deeper understanding of the game from a tactical perspective.
-
What is the size of the camp?
We limit each session to 30 campers to provide a more personalized experience. With smaller group sizes, our coaches can offer individualized feedback on the field and conduct a detailed assessment of each camper's skills toward the end of the camp. This approach also allows us to create flexible groupings for scrimmages throughout the day, ensuring a balanced and dynamic learning environment for all participants.
-
What should participants bring?
Campers should bring:
Soccer cleats and shin guards
Comfortable athletic clothing
A refillable water bottle
Sunscreen
Lunch
Shoes to wear when not on the field - comfortable and easy to slip on/off
Extra socks -
What happens if there is inclement weather?
In the event of inclement weather, all campers will be asked to leave the field to the designated shelter area. If camp is cancelled once started, you will be asked to pick up the player. No refunds will be given if a camp must be interrupted or cancelled for reasons beyond our control (i.e. bad weather).
-
What does the registration fee include?
The fee includes camp t-shirt; on the field skills training; classroom sessions with content created by a sports psychologist, sports nutritionist, and physical therapist; film analysis; and a player-specific evaluation at the end of camp providing targeted areas for continued development.
-
Are there scholarships available?
We are working on creating resources for scholarships. If you are interested in donating money to support another player, please let us know during the registration process.
-
What is your refund policy?
If Soccer Leadership Academy cancels a camp session—whether due to government restrictions, facility closures, or other unforeseen circumstances—100% of the tuition fees paid will be credited toward a future SLA camp.
For added peace of mind, we offer Tuition Protection, ensuring flexibility for life’s unexpected challenges. Please note that without Tuition Protection, camp fees are non-refundable.
-
What is Tuition Protection?
Adding Tuition Protection during registration ensures flexibility and peace of mind. If you cancel more than 7 days before your camp start date, you’ll receive a full refund. If you cancel within 7 days of the camp, you’ll receive a 100% credit to apply toward a future Soccer Leadership Academy camp.

-
What safety measures are in place?
We prioritize player safety by adhering to relevant safety guidance from health authorities and host facilities. These measures may change leading up to camp. We also have on-site camp directors, small groups, and a Physical Therapist and/or Sports Trainer.
We also maintain the following staff requirements for everyone involved in the camp;
- Pass a thorough background check
- US Soccer Safe Sport Training (includes mandatory reporter training)
- Attend SLA training prior to soccer camp to learn curriculum and behavioral expectations
-
Can parents watch the sessions?
Yes, parents are welcome to observe field sessions from designated areas. We ask that you not ‘coach’ your child while you are observing. Classroom sessions are smaller spaces and we are limited to the number of people we can put in each classroom at one time.
-
Is lunch provided?
Lunch is not provided. Please pack a lunch and healthy snacks.
